This is more than just a premiere of a new theatrical work. "The Koi Pond" is a completely new kind of Interactive Theatre piece, one that takes place both on the Net and in a local venue.
"I call the work 'An Interactive Drama for Actors and Audience,'" says author Reed. "By signing up online, audience members from anywhere in the world can become part of the play, interacting through email and other online venues. Some of the characters in the story will be scripted and portrayed by professional actors. Others will be audience members, trying to Do the Right Thing."
When regional theatres announce a new premiere, they're trying to get the word out to people who like coming to watch productions on stage. But when Sausalito Electric Theatre Co. launches a new show, they're looking for audience members to participate online, interact with the actors, and shape the outcome of the story.
Northern California residents will have an additional, optional opportunity to meet and interact with a story character "live and in person" at an event in Sausalito.
The program is free, and people can learn more and sign up at www.ElectricTheatreCo.com.
